Our Email Marketing Anti Spam Policy

Email Marketing Solutions Customer SupportEmail Marketing Solutions Client Login

Spam is something that we all dislike receiving in our email inbox. To help protect your company's reputation we require confirmation that each database you use does not contain any unsolicited email addresses.

By creating an account and agreeing to our Terms of Use, you are also agreeing to this antispam policy.

We take email permission very seriously and have to comply with laws set out to combat unsolicited email, also known as spam. We therefore require all of our clients to confirm that each database supplied to us contains only permission based email addresses.

What is Spam?

Spam is unsolicited email sent in bulk. Any promotion, information or solicitation that is sent to a person via e-mail without their prior consent, where there is no pre-existing relationship between the sender and the recipient, is classed as spam.

Your database is safe to use if either:

  • They have supplied their details via an email newsletter subscription form on your website.
  • Each customer has purchase off you within the last 2 years.
  • Handed you their business card at a trade show or other event knowing you would be in contact with them.
  • They completed an offline form such as a competition or survey, and they ticked a box indicating they would like to be contacted.

Your database is not safe to use if either:

  • You haven't emailed the recipient's address for more than 2 years.
  • You have obtained their email addresses from a third party.
  • You copied their email address from their website.

Other requirements:

Each email sent must contain full contact details for your company including an address and telephone numbers. We also ensure each email has an unsubscribe link so each recipient has the option to opt out of your database, which is also a requirement by law.

Email marketing permission

Email Marketing Solutions has numerous layers of approval and monitoring to ensure you comply with our anti-spam policy. Here’s a few of them:

1. Until your account has been approved by a member of our marketing team, every email you send will need to be approved.

2. Our software is directly integrated into the spam reporting systems for some of the biggest ISP’s like Hotmail and AOL. If you don’t have permission and someone marks your campaign as spam, we’ll know about it the moment that button is pressed. If you receive a complaint rate greater than 0.25% of all recipients (that’s 25 complaints for every 10,000 recipients) your account will be terminated. This is a generous figure that takes into account false spam reports.

3. Our marketing team verifies all large email lists imported into our software. Until we’ve given it the all clear, you can’t send to it.

4. We monitor blacklists and any abuse accounts all day every day. We can pinpoint who is causing us delivery problems or attracting complaints very easily.

If we do discover that you’re emailing people without their permission, we will terminate your account with Email Marketing Solutions immediately.

In the end, it’s really common sense. Take off your marketing hat and put yourself in your recipient’s shoes. If they don’t recognize who you are or aren’t interested in what you’re sending, they’ll think you’re a spammer. It’s that simple.

If you have any questions about this Anti-Spam Policy, or if you want to report email spamming activity by one of our customers, please contact the Email Marketing Solutions abuse department by .
